Microphonic Playground

An Empty Canvas for Your Sound Explorations

A Playground for Translating Body Vibrations into Experimental Sounds

A wooden LeafAudio Microphonic Playground device with adjustable screws on the side and a laser-engraved geometric pattern on the top surface.

The Microphonic Playground is the compact counterpart to the Microphonic Soundbox, offering a versatile platform for sonic exploration and an affordable entry into the Soundbox universe.

The Microphonic Playground is a tactile wooden box with a built-in contact microphone and multiple mounting options, including M3 threaded strips, a wooden holder, and thumb screws. Attach found objects, springs, or materials of your choice and capture body-borne sound vibrations as you interact with your instrument.

The Playground features an audio input that is mixed with the internal contact microphone, allowing multiple units to be daisy-chained together and expanded indefinitely. The Playground can be used as an extension of the Microphonic Soundbox via its input.

The instrument is passive and therefore requires amplification via the Microphonic Soundbox, Field Amp or another amplifier suitable for contact microphones. Designed with modularity in mind, the Playground encourages experimentation with different arrangements, materials, and objects.

LeafAudio Microphonic Playground placed on brown and green leaves in an outdoor setting.
