Geophone S&L
A seismic sensor for capturing low frequency vibrations for sound design.
Enhance your
Sounddesign with
our Geophones
Unlike conventional air-pressure microphones, the Geophone responds to body sound. This means the microphone listens from within the material, offering a radically different auditory perspective. The result is a detailed, often otherworldly sound image. For best results, combine Geophone recordings with those from contact or standard microphones to expand your sonic palette.
Engineered for musicians, sound designers, and field recording professionals, the Geophone is suitable for capturing a wide range of sound sources, from soil and surfaces to metal, plant life, and machinery. Its applications are as broad as your imagination allows.
The Geophone includes multiple attachment options. A magnet can be threaded either directly onto the housing or onto the included clamp for connecting to metal surfaces. A steel spike is provided for secure placement in soil or soft ground. The suction cup attaches either to the base or to the clamp for smooth, flat surfaces.
An add-on pack is available that allows you to attach the sensor to an even wider range of surfaces and objects. It also enables precise adjustment of the Geophone’s angle, which directly influences its sonic response.
The Geophone is available in two versions, designed to meet different needs and budgets. The Geophone L features an extended frequency range down to 15 Hz and increased sensitivity compared to the Geophone S.
The Geophone is an omnidirectional seismic sensor designed to capture low-frequency vibrations. Originally developed for geophysical applications, the LeafAudio Geophone is now widely used in sound design, music production, field recording, foley work and game audio. Its strength lies in detecting subsonic and low-frequency vibrations that are typically underrepresented by conventional microphones.
